Odd Shoe Day
On Friday the 13 of September, the student council put together some shoe-related activities such as throw the gumboot and find the clues to make a shoe related word. The Seniors played the games in the morning and the Juniors in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the Middles didn't get a go. I'm in the student council, and with the Seniors I did find the clues to make a shoe related word and with the Juniors I did the parachute. We also had a coin trail, were people can put donation on a drawing of a shoe. All the money went to camp quality, which supports kids who have had cancer or are living with cancer.

Room 5s scene in the production
In the Richmond school production all the classes had one scene they were responsible for. This post is about room 5's battle scene. Here is a photo peach Medieval fighting force on PhotoPeach
Film canister rockets.
On the 29/7/13 Room 2 had some fun with film canisters, water and Alka-seltzer tablets to make some rockets.
Mr I was saying it might take a while then it banged mid-sentence. We split into groups of 3 and got a container each and started to bang . Here's a photopeach of some of them.

Kea enchancements
We were given homework task to make a device that a kea had to solve and take apart in order to get food. Then we would take them to Natureland and get the kea to try them out. The first group was Libby, Alice, Braeden and me. When we got to Natureland we prepared our devices and put the food in. After that we were allowed to go into the enclosure and put our devices where we wanted them. I managed to get so close to a kea I could have reached out and touched it!! Once we left the enclosure we kept watching the kea for about 10 more minutes. One kea must have not liked Braeden's because he threw it off a 2 metre high ledge! After awhile the kea stopped trying and we went to see the other animals. When we came back the keas still weren't doing anything so we went home. A few days I saw Christine and she said the kea solved all of ours.

Natureland trip
In March we went to Natureland to study native animals. We saw how big their eggs and skeleton are. We got to look at the other things during morning tea and lunch. Kam and I both went to the monkeys to find our favourite one - the smallest. He fought a slightly bigger monkey. We came back and looked at a kiwi burrow. Natureland tried to get the kiwi out but they couldn't.

Inter-School Swimming Carnival
In March Richmond Primary had a swimming carnival sports day. There were around eight different races including the relay . They included non- competitive one length, backstroke and freestyle. Then the competitive two length freestyle and backstroke. For each person who came first there was a final. All who won got to go to the Nayland Pool to compete in the inter-schools. The last race of the day was the syndicate relay.
About three weeks later the winners went off to interschools at Nayland. The races were as following 8 and under girls freestyle, backstroke and breastroke. Then 9 year old girls and so on. Last came the final race which was the school vs school relay. Our team came 4th. It was an awesome day and we all enjoyed the sports.

Room 2 Camp Photos - Solo
A selection of Room 2 students on solo for half an hour. They were given a piece of sacking to sit on and weren't allowed to leave this or speak to anyone else for the 30 minutes. Most succeeded.
